Megan Wells
Megan brings professional storytelling skills to our Unleashing the Leader Within™ program. She is a seasoned actress, director, writer, teacher, mythologist, communications consultant and innovation coach. Her mission is to reawaken executives' imagination and passion, using the power and wisdom of ancient myths and modern tales. Megan's style is a theatrical marriage of clowning and drama.
Megan received a BFA in Acting from Illinois Wesleyan University and an MFA in Directing from Illinois State University which led to three years of intensive work with Chicago theaters. In 1985, Megan joined Lois Peterson to explore the application of theater to the corporate world. They developed the Talking Straight program and have served corporate clients across the nation for ten years. An innovative, interactive communications program, Talking Straight delivers insightful and practical skills through a dynamic methodology.
Megan's corporate story clients include Kraft Foods, The Rouse Company, Mastercard, Northwest Airlines, J. Walter Thompson, DDB Needham, Northwestern and DePaul Universities, and Columbia College. Story programs have been created for innovation, merger, new product development and performance improvement.
Megan is a published author and playwright. Her awards include the Joseph Jefferson Award, Parent's Choice Gold, and Ed Press Distinguished Award. She lives in La Grange Park and is married to Gary S. Shunk, a psychotherapist in private practice in Chicago. They have two smashingly cute daughters, Claire and Hannah.
