Denis Weiss
Denis Weiss has 24 years experience at an executive level in automotive/truck, steel, durable goods and building supplies. He has been a Plant Manager at Rockwell and an operations VP at Huffy Bicycle, Kirby, Crown Leisure and Taylor Door. Denis has hands-on expertise in turnarounds, world-class manufacturing, cost reduction, union contract negotiation, metrics design, financial analysis and strategic planning. His Lean background includes cells, focused factories, JIT, SPC and setup reduction in union and non-union shops. He has worked domestically and in APAC.
Denis's coaching is unique, teaching financial acumen and people skills in addition to operations skills. He is known for taking managers in manufacturing, quality, engineering and supply chain under his wing to help them expand their thinking beyond narrow functional roles. He emphasizes the practicalities of employee empowerment while helping managers hold their people accountable for results.
Denis is currently on the Board of Trustees at Kirtland Community College and chairs their workforce training advisory board. He is President of the North Eastern Michigan Industrial Association and chairs the Board of a charitable foundation. He teaches management courses at Baker College. He builds and flies experimental aircraft, a testament to the principle that "retirement" need not be boring.
